Our Team
Steve Madison Jr.
With over 12 years in construction—spanning restoration, coatings, and roofing—Steve has seen just about everything Texas weather can throw at a home. A proud Texas A&M grad, husband, and dad of four, he’s built his career on more than just quality roofing—he’s built it on relationships.
For Steve, roofing isn’t just about shingles and nails—it’s about people. He thrives on connecting with homeowners, understanding their needs, and finding the best solutions. His goal isn’t just to fix roofs; it’s to make a real impact in the community, one home at a time.
When he’s not on a roof, he’s spending time with his family, catching up with friends, or striking up a conversation with just about anyone. Need a roofer who knows his stuff and genuinely cares? Steve’s your guy.
Erik Drentlaw
With a degree in Construction Science from Texas A&M (his second college degree, no big deal), Erik brings a deep and diverse background to Texas Roofing Project. Before co-founding the company in 2024 with Steve and Dane, Erik’s career spanned everything from golf course construction across the globe—including the legendary St. Andrews in Scotland—to large-scale multifamily developments right here in DFW.
Over the years, he’s overseen $50M+ projects, led teams of superintendents and subs, and built high-end apartments from the ground up—including podiums, wraps, and high-rises. He’s got a sharp eye for quality and a calm approach to complexity, which makes him a steady hand in the often chaotic world of construction.
After recognizing a major gap in the roofing industry—namely, the lack of dependable, no-BS contractors—he helped launch Texas Roofing Project to bring a higher standard to the table.
When Erik’s not on a job site or managing a project, he’s at home in Richardson with his wife and three kids, doing life as one of the 5 Es. If he’s not working, he’s either chasing kids, exploring a state park, swapping ideas with the guys, or quietly overanalyzing the construction of whatever building he’s standing near.
Dane
Dane brings over a decade of construction and real estate experience to the Texas Roofing Project team, along with a knack for solving just about any problem you throw at him. Whether it’s managing complex projects, keeping teams on track, or figuring out how to fix something that shouldn’t be fixable, Dane’s the guy you want on your side when things get tricky.
Before co-founding Texas Roofing Project with Erik and Steve, he helped launch 5E Construction—cutting his teeth on residential and commercial builds while sharpening the kind of hands-on, practical know-how that’s hard to come by. It was during that time that he and Erik saw a clear gap in the roofing industry and decided to do something about it.
Outside of work, Dane is a husband and dad, a fitness junkie, and a fan of great stand-up comedy (the darker and more relatable, the better). He’s happiest when he’s exploring a new place, sneaking in a good workout, or shocking his nervous system with a cold plunge “just for fun.”
